Please visit the website for all details.

And before you ask, yes this one is 100% legit and piggy approved.

This is a great idea, and I'm sure the community will come through for the guy who put so much time and effort into creating such a great community.

Finally! :) I hope my money helps you out OiNK!

Anonymous said...

Well ... i sure will do and me hopes Trent is doing also :-)

just sent a week bit until pay-day. I really hope all those OiNKers who had good times at the site put their hands in their pockets and do what is right. Free the pig! OK, maybe not 'free', but you know what I mean

Anonymous said...

looking forward to give back what he has given so many of us. Good idea OiNK and I hope all fares well for you.

Unknown said...

remember he got sacked and don't have any income besides paypal :)

Anonymous said...

So, a fund raiser before we know if he's going to require any legal help... Sounds odd to me...

Anonymous said...

i will be more than glad to donate when the legal actions are announced. it'll be better if there is no legal actions at all =)

question: will oink get any help from his father? i could be wrong but i heard that his father was some rich business man.

on another note, i think the donators should be able to see (or be notified at least once) how much money has been donated in total.

great idea, i hope it helps OiNK

Anonymous said...

Ha, ha. People have a short memory for previous torrent site operators who solicited donations for legal costs and then took the money and ran.

Oink hasn't even been charged yet. Has he even hired a lawyer?

Anonymous said...

animal charity?

Well I won't be donating in that case, there are people who need that money more than bi-polar donkeys and cats with post-traumatic stress disorder

Anonymous said...

finally! as soon as i get paid, oink gets paid.

"Well ... i sure will do and me hopes Trent is doing also :-)"

i lol'd :D

Now that we know Oink's name, the real question has become "Which 'Alan Ellis' is he on Facebook or if he is even one of them at all?"

Submitted my gift. Best of luck!

Anonymous said...

About time for this. Hope we can make a difference.

Anonymous said...

First time Ive given any cash to anything but I think this is a deserved casue.... good luck ;)

I opened my wallet.

I think you would be much better off if the fund was a trust account, at your law firm of choice. I also think things like this should be transparent with donations listed (anonymously) and the legal costs laid out for all to see. That said I will still donate a little.

And very much rooting for you Alan.

I'd donate if I had any money...right now my Paypal shines with a glorious balance of $0.00...good luck :D

If anyone thinks that after all the fuss that has been made that they're going to drop all allegations then that is very unrealistic thinking. Legal fees on lesser case levels will put wealthy folks to poverty. It's very doubtful there will be "leftover" funds for animals or anything else outside of paying legal representation.

This case is going to be high profile with plenty of news coverage as it progresses. I've read that the first court date for Allan is in December. This thing can drag out for years. It should be crystal clear that OiNK needs our help. He should not have to supply "updates" to convince anyone to participate with their supportive gifts. At least NOW there is a way to sort from the "scam funds".

If you want to "help" Allan that's great! Now you can rest assured that your gift will reach the rightful recipient. It's the least we can do after all the joy we found at the Pink Palace.

High profile for sure. Thats why he needs our help. Be it financial, be it moral. I am even willing to testify or turn myself in if it would help the case.

BTW ... Paine ... people are already trying to cash. See http://torrentfreak.com/oink-fund-071111/ Comment #35

"I've read that the first court date for Allan is in December. "

You didn't read very hard then, as no court date is even confirmed, if it is even necessary.

And it is Alan, not Allan :P

Just to reiterate ... the generous gifts will go straight to lawyers upon their production of invoices. I would very much doubt that anywhere near enough will be raised to cover the legals, but if there is excess then it will be donated to charity.

The animal welfare was simply a first thought as a chosen charity. Perhaps we could conduct some sort of poll at a later date if it becomes clear that there are excess funds.

Wakuwaku, scammers have been trying to cash in since the site was closed on the 23rd. It's nothing new, I'm afraid.

Anonymous said...

This is sensless. If I wanted to donate to animal charity I would give them the money directly.

Anonymous said...

Cool, have made a donation... OiNK/Alan, thanks for all the happy times, and best of luck.

Anonymous said...

... also - why not add some profit to the cafe press merch sales, with the cash going towards the fund? I'm sure you've already thought of this though :)

Anonymous said...

THIS IS FAR TOO SOON. I mean, OiNK has not actually been charged. Can't we just wait until he appears in court and actually has legal fees to pay?

ffs people. think of the children in africa.

Anonymous said...

It's certainly good to have an "offical" legal fund that will hopefully put an end to those scam sites out there trying to make money off someone else's problems.

Having said that, I think the choice of an animal charity for the event of the funds not being needed is a poor one, and will put many people off. A children's charity or something of that ilk would have made more sense.

Like others, I will be watching developments closely. This is an important case - not just for Mr. Ells, but for the entire file-sharing community. This is the one to "stand up and be counted" for, if it comes to that.

I'm now £20 poorer, but I feel £1 million richer for having given.

Making a small donation is the least we can do – Alan is facing lengthy unemployment, and quite possibly tens of thousands of Pounds in legal fees.

If you can afford a computer and Internet access, then you can afford to give 10 quid to help out someone who's in a rather difficult spot right now. Many of us have huge music collections thanks to OiNK – collections that otherwise would've cost thousands of Pounds. Shame on those who keep making excuses for themselves for why they can't donate!

I can't see why people insist on complaining about the choice of an animal charity.

Firstly, OiNK (like me!) is vegetarian so clearly has some support for animals going on there!

Secondly, the sites logo involved a pig, which last time I checked was a must.

Thirdly, a cute avatar was a MUST and animals are cute so come on!

The choice of an animals charity seems like a great one to me!

The only criticism I do have is the timing of this donation being set up. Whilst I will be happy to donate if OiNK is charged and has to go to court I don't want to until we have confirmation on that. For now we're just waiting to see what will happen and I think the fund could have held off for a wee while.

Still, not putting me off in the slightest and the people making comments about others running off with the money in the past need to have a little faith in the difference of situation here!

hmmm.. i tried to donate and got this:

Is it only me?

hm, i'm getting "This recipient is currently unable to receive money."

i'm not about to affiliated with this anymore. Too much risk. I'd like to give...but no way.

I'm donating right now. The point is not whether or not Alan is prosecuted. Of course we all hope it does not come to that. Should he, however, require our financial support during this time we should give it. Being sacked and facing the risks of legal action along with the carnivorous gaze of the press is quite enough for me to help buy his groceries if that's what he wants to do with the money. As for leftovers going to an animal charity, fine. The point, as usual, is that he is not trying to become wealthy from our donations.

There's some unbelievably ungrateful a-holes abounding. What difference does it make if or when Alan is charged or incurs legal expenses. Trust funds and accountings are absurd.

No matter what, Alan's in a world of hurt. I don't need to rehash what's been covered, but I'm a trial lawyer and I couldn't afford to hire myself. You can go broke suing your neighbor (and people do).

Alan's out of work, his situation alarms would-be employers and right now there's no silver lining.

Everyone running for cover except to stop here all the time to bitch and spew nonsense is absolutely inexplicable. There isn't a person reading this blog who hasn't enjoyed the benefits of Alan's hard work and sacrifice and it was and is, his neck on the line, not yours.

Like me, you ought to be donating, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I sincerely WISH that Alan HAD the luxury of blowing every chickenshit penny I'm giving on drugs, alcohol or whores or whatever he damn well wishes. But he doesn't have that luxury.

Every $20 you're talking about NOT donating is $20 you didn't pay for a CD. If you don't want to donate or show your support, don't. This isn't the place for you.

There ought to be at least one place, (and that should be RIGHT HERE on this comment page), RESERVED for positive support and well wishes for Alan, totally and completely berift of the immature ramblings of lunatics looking only for another curbside to post his/her immmediate stream-of-mind dribble.

Somewhere there should be reserved, and this comment page ought to be at least one of those places, for Alan's friends and supporters and those who wish him well to to show his/her support with positive, supportive messages and thanks; not for bloodsuckers who have nothing better to do but to squeeze his/her own nickel and every one else's so hard that the whole buffalo herd is screaming.

If you don't want to donate, then don't. That's your business; don't make it ours. Go to the PETA blog and tell them everything you don't like in the world, and why you're not donating to them either. But whatever your reasons, we don't care. You're not going to get any support here.

If you are unwilling or unable to donate, the least you could do is say, "Thanks Alan; my thoughts and prayers are with you and you have my support." If you can't do this, you don't belong here. Go to K-Mart and shoplift or go beat up another old lady and steal her purse, but you don't belong here.

THANKS ALAN; MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT, BOTH IN SPIRIT AND IN CASH AND AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, I HOPE IT GOES TOWARDS A MERCEDES RATHER THAN A BLOODSUCKING LAWYER LIKE ME. AT LEAST 180,000, PLUS ALL OF THE 180,000'S FRIENDS, BENEFITTED FROM YOUR HARD WORK AND EFFORTS, RISK FREE. YOU CREATED A SPECIAL AND UNIQUE COMMUNITY WHICH LEGACY THE FUTURE WILL SEE IN VARIOUS FORMS. ON BEHALF OF THE MORONS WHO ARE CLUTTERING UP THE GOOD EFFORTS OF MANY CONCERNED PERSONS, I HOPE WHEN YOU READ THESE COMMENTS YOU'LL JUST SKIP PAST THE 12 YEAR OLDS AND JUST CHALK IT UP TO IMMATURE STUPIDITY BUT I HOPE YOU WILL AT LEAST FIND SOME SOLACE BY THE POSITIVE COMMENTS OF THOSE WHO SINCERELY CARE FOR YOUR WELFARE. THERE ARE MANY, MANY PEOPLE WHO CARE AND ARE CONCERNED FOR YOUR WELFARE AND WANT TO HELP YOU AND WOULD AND WILL DO SO PERSONALLY. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY DESERVE HELP AND GRATITUDE AND YOU SHOULDN'T BE WONDERING WHERE YOUR NEXT MEAL IS COMING FROM. I WISH YOU GODSPEED.

I have started a private room on the SoulSeek network called "Hydra". Even though it's not officially associated with any trackers, I will be making sure that only members of Libble, Waffles, and What are allowed into the rooms.

If you want inside, just search the forums of any of those 3 communities for "SoulSeek" and you'll figure out how to join us! =)

I have to agree 100% with what Gary said.

Alan: Thanks for the good times - I sincerely hope that everything turns out well for you and your family.

Somhow it does seem quite apt to wish you

Godspeed indeed....

Of course I'm in.

They might have shut down OiNK, but Alan's legacy lives on in each of us.

Anonymous said...

after more than a year I finally donated to Oink the day before it was shut down. I hope you guys got that money and the paypal account wasn't frozen

Anonymous said...

I donated before paypal broke. Should i worry you didn't get the money?

Anonymous said...

"This recipient is currently unable
to receive money" this is the message i get when i am trying to access the link from the saveoink page.

Are there any country restrictions ?

Anonymous said...

Screw OiNK.

Anonymous said...

Well, well, well...talk about karma.
If anyone else had been on the old irc channel trying to discuss re-instating their banned account with an oink mod, they'll know what I'm talking about.

Generally it went like this:

(oink user): I'd like to discuss my account?

(mod): no help for cheaters! .kb oink user

Guess what, turn about is fair play.

No help for douchebags!

Paypal is back up at last, and for keeps this time!

I made the following post on a forum of a new torrent website, whilst discussing the save oink fund. I was amazed that a minority of people on there have a fuck you attitude instead of gratitude for all the hard work from OiNK. Anyway I'm posting it here as its my reasons for supporting OiNK, here goes...

I donated because:

I used Oink's pink palace, I loved Oink's pink palace, I miss Oink's pink palace, and... the way that file sharing and music distribution is going, is about standing up for what you believe in. I believe this means sharing responsibility as well as just the files. One man took the risk, and we all took advantage, do we all stand by and watch him get get put away or fined 6 figure sum? Or do we show support and and help this man out - and simultaneously show the mother fuckers that their scare tactics won't work and that file sharing is here to stay, and the music distribution model has changed since the eighties...

Oink's pink palace was awesome, and I am glad sites like this have come up and are following in Oink's footsteps with true hydra fashion. Without OiNK would this site exist? Would it be as good as it it?

Comparing supporting oink to being Reebok and paying Nike, is bullshit, we are in this together, we are the file sharing community.

Yes - he hasn't been charged with anything yet. But Oink is going through a world of shit right now and its putting his family through some strain, he's now jobless as a result and will be back and questioned and more than likely probably charged with something - and will need good legal support if he stands any chance of winning. Also this will be a landmark case, especially in the UK, and the outcome will have major repercussions for file sharing in the future. Its about saying thanks and we support you!

Those are my reasons for donating, you make your own decisions.

For some reason, some scam sites now frame redirect to saveoink.com. w00t?

Anonymous said...

I think a SaveOink cup with an outrageously high mark-up would be the best way to get funds. Or maybe identical cups with different prices. Why? Because too many people are shit scared to be associated with OiNK in any direct way right now. Paying directly via PayPal seems very incriminating (for who can trust the PP bastards anyway), whereas buying merchandise at CafePress, overpirced or not, is a perfectly innocent thing to do.

Besides, I would really like such a cup.

(Sad face: My music is broken ... it only says "moo!" these days ...)

Anonymous said...

I would also like a cup, but can you truly see the court case against your anonymus self?

-Of which crime is he charged?
--Of paying contributions to a bad, bad pirate king's legal fund!
-I see. Which law has he broken?
--...and he says awwrrrrr a lot, too. He must be guilty.
-Of breaking which law?
--I said he says awwrrrr a lot, didn't I?

I can see that court case going really, really far ...

Anyway, if you could afford to buy a CD to rip and up your ratio on OiNK, Im sure you can afford what a CD costs to support Alan. (And if you really want to be paranoid: imagine who they will be coming for next, if Alan loses his case!)
