It's rant time.

Apparently, people still haven't got it into their heads that I'm not making a fucking penny.

So this means I get to have a nice little rant.

Let's start by addressing the comments specifically.

First off, if it's not obvious, I'm not black-cats. The cafepress stores allow you to mark up prices on t-shirts to make a direct profit. If black-cats do this (frankly I don't know if they do, or particularly care), then so be it. The point is, I do not. People don't seem to realise that the mark up is entirely customisable. The markup I have set is $0.00. Don't believe me? Create a cafepress account yourself and start a store (it's free), you'll see the inner workings for yourself, as well as see the base prices for shirts, which mine are set at.

Secondly, the "affiliate" scheme you mention is not something I am taking part in. I've already posted screenshots in the blog of the cafepress account's finances -- a profit of exactly $0.00

Thirdly, while this is not in any way money related, I'd love to know on how you plan on "banning me from the oink community for life". But whatever, kids need to have their vague delusions of being able to do things that make no sense.

If I wanted to make money, I could easily have done so without going to stupid extremes. I did the cafepress store because people asked me to. I'm also looking into alternative stores (specifically ones that do black hoodies).

An example of how I could've done this? Adsense. Bacon Phat, the person running the "oink memorial" blog, claims to have made a total of $140 from running that page, which he seems to believe he has somehow earned. I've been running this page and haven't turned it on once. If I had it on, I could have easily made far more than that amount.

If it's not painfully clear yet, I'm not making a fucking penny. Shut the fuck up and get a clue.

If anyone else wants to be a fucking smart arse, I'll show them the rest of the crap going through the cafepress store. Maybe that will make them shut the fuck up, although I'd hardly be surprised if it wouldn't.

Stop trying to hide behind anonymity kids, I've seen your comments on torrentfreak and oink memorial. Grow a pair of balls, if you have a problem with me, come into IRC and we'll discuss it. I'm not in the mood for taking shit from 12 year old kids with attitude problems.

Scamsite news: stay away from 6x.to / the ones I've already mentioned previously.
Other news: Don't bother giving your old passkey (announce url) to other sites asking for them as "Proof" you were a member of oink -- they have no way of checking it's legitimacy. (They don't have the databases, remember).

Don't let trolls troll you so easily, Paine..

Anonymous said...

Just ignore the fucking 11 year olds. I don't believe that you have to prove a thing. I think the majority (the ones that weren't banned) of oink users know that you are telling the truth.

samwilsonisinmexicorightnow said...

I think it's primarily the dicks from cx.la who are leaving those comments, in a desperate attempt to get a few more pennies from stupid people. If there are people besides them saying these things, then they are dolts and you don't even really owe them this explanation.

Thanks for what you do, man.

this blog is really keeping me up to date on oink's status. tellin me about where i can go to buy an oink t-shirt and that paine is not making a fucking penny. these blogs get better and better everyday. keep keepin it official!

Don't worry we know you are way too legit to quit!!! <3<3<3<3<3^39

Fucking trolled

Anonymous said...

How ignorant and worthless of a human being do you have to be to just accuse people of scams. It's one thing when sites rake in donations and promise to replace oink; it's quite another when an individual offers merchandise at the bare minimum so people can honor it.

Carlos Valdez said...

you don't have to explain anything to anyone... everything has already been said, just ignore those stupid kids.

kyledelaney said...

Gotta agree with the rest. Anyone with any sense knows this blog is the best thing going for oink info and that you're not trying to rip people off with the t-shirt stuff. Anyone else? Fuck em. Thanks for keeping the info coming.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, honestly everyone from OiNK! have enough sense to know your not making any money from the T-shirts. I know if you did, I wouldn't care it is the least we can do to keep us all updated.

Thanks to all the posters (Paine, Canapial, & Crew) for keeping this broken community somewhat together.

There is still an OiNK! group on facebook (Private and Invite only) and it does bustle with people wondering what to do and where to go. I know I am just waiting for a Taxi to the next site.

Unknown said...

Yeah dude, let it go. You have proven yourself so many times, at this point whoever is posting comments that are claiming your a theif are either; trying to get you pissed and/or a fucking moron.

Anonymous said...

Paine, the true oinker isn't going to believe in the nonsense that those ball-less wonders are trying to spread. I for one never doubted your intentions and I know there's many more that feel the same way.

Ignore the trolls. You don't need to prove yourself to anyone. Certainly not to those morons. Keep up the good work.

Unknown said...

i bought 6 tshirts! i love them and i love you and i love love love

Anonymous said...

Well dont care about them! ignorant fucks. Your posts really helps me getting threw the mourning process, like when your girlfriend becomes your X and theres only an empty shell left. Oh darn I miss those waffles.

kjb786 said...

paine, it looks like you are looking for a store to do black hoodies, just so happens that I am putting in orders for black hoodies.
hmmm
if you change your mind, go ahead and PM me or email me, i don't mind it when people do.

Unknown said...

are you going to get a waffles.fm account?

Unknown said...

Personally man, I wouldnt care if you did make money off of the shirts. I can see that you do not, I have had a cafepress store as well. But if you did, who cares?

Unknown said...

I wouldnt care if you did make money on the shirts. you took the time to set up the store and whatever. i have a cafepress store too, so i can see that yes, not a dime you have made.

Well said Paine - Rumours are just what they are - Rumours. Anyone who knows Paine will know him as one of the most honest and fair people you can come across. Also Sure there are going to be plenty of sites to join out there to further our love of music but as for donate to us spiels - beware, because -well it was never about money was it. It's about the love of music. I just ask for everyone to remember that.

Keep up the good work. Paine

I love how a lot of people think of this as a competition. it's not. One p2p site went down, the best one. Now more are coming out. That's what makes this beautiful to watch. The IFPI and the BPI are looking at all this right now and are probably regretting what they did. Now they'll have 10 times more work to do. It's a message to all these organizations and record companies, "Give us what we want, or we'll take it anyway."

I like to read paine's blog and i like to read the memorial blog. I like to see the sites spring up. There's no scam here. I didn't pay to read these blogs. If people want to pay for shirts or donate on some of these tracker sites popping up, then so be it. It's their choice to do what they wish with their money.

I didn't even know the memorial blog had Adsense Ads on it.
I have AdBlocker. If I wanted bacon_phat to make money off of me I'd turn it off.

Anonymous said...

if there are people who are shitting on you, remember that there are far more people who appreciate what you are saying and doing, then not.

i really appreciate coming here and seeing what is REALLY happening as opposed to the sites out there who say they are hearing things from friends of friends of friends of someone who is in the "know."

dont let the bastards drag you down.

Anonymous said...

Paine-
I can understand you wanting to clarify your intentions, but the only ones--it strongly seems to me (reading much of the post OPP blogs and threads out there)-- making a fuss about Tshirts ate the scammers.

And there is one known group of scammers who seem mad that you called them out on their crap and refuse them free advertising space.

The memorial blog is a mess and not worth dealing with (sorry, BF but the least you can do with your little income is to moderate the damn thing)because of the endless subliterate spam.

Anyone who tells them to save, they accuse of being you! They may actually believe it!

Keep up the good fight and ignore the haters. The people who matter KNOW who you are and what you are about. And this blog has been an important source of info since the bust.

There's an article on the OiNK memorial that says that your OiNK torrents constitute as real proof:
Q: What constitutes reasonable proof?
[...]including but not limited to: your invite email, a receipt of your paypal donation (please remove transaction IDs and/or bank account numbers), or oink torrents left on your machine with full urls[...]

But you said that no one has the database to check it's validity,
so should we trust the guys at waffles.fm, or not?

Anonymous said...

Does it relly matter if you get a few pennies? Even IF you did, you would deserve it.

Anonymous said...

i submitted waffles.fm with a change of password e-mail screen shot, but not heard anything abck as yet - do you (or anyone) know if they have a backlog??

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure I understand what these people's problem is. It's not like anybody is obliged to order their stuff at cafepress. They can always take the design they want and go to a local store that does these kind of t-shirts and get your shirt done there. Almost every copy shop in my country provides such a service.

Anyway, Paine don't be upset about a few beople bitching around. They are just that: a few.
The great majority of OiNKers know your value ;-).

Oh, and thank you for providing this island of solid info in a sea of assumptions and rumours.

i've just been watching this blog since you started it, but i have to said, i appreciate the way you handled that, as well as everything else you've done. don't let them get to you, and keep up the good work.

what about just making some money? we could use it to rebuild oink when the time had come, or just to set up a server with a forum on it.. or you spend it on a haxxor hackin down the bastards of those scam sites :P

Tristan said...

I think they guys at waffles.fm are just looking for 'something' to say that you're a good person to invite to the site.

still not sure about those guys though, but we'll see how they turn out.

Anonymous said...

Keep up the good work. There are many people who appreciate the good source of accurate information. Thanks for what you are doing!

Anonymous said...

Shit.. and this simple blog is likely 10 times less work than being an OiNK staff member. And both are, of course, volunteer on your part.

Don't even stoop to their level to defend yourself. There is no need to.

I don't ever remember anybody accusing OiNK of making money off the t-shirts at Cafe Express. Hell, there was a search in the forums to find a site that would allow somebody to sell merchandise with the OiNK logos on it without any markup, and cafe express was the conclusion.

Anonymous said...

Who cares if you make money either way? The only places you can buy a shirt for less than $18.99 are Wal-Mart or Old Navy. And I agree it's likely the idiots from the scam sites who are trying to get revenge for you denouncing them.

Anonymous said...

from the beginning it seemed obvious that this was the place to get the real info without being scammed. i'm thankful for the news and opinions you bring to us in this blog.

Belghast said...

I just want to thank you for throwing up your running blog. Your site has done alot to keep us Oink users now shut out in the cold informed with whats going on. The thing I miss the most about Oink is not necessarily the free access to music, because in truth I can still find just about any damned thing I want if I put my mind to it. I miss the ability to discover new artists and music you might never have heard of. Keep up the good work and when a "new" oink shows up on the scene hopefully I can find my way back into it.

bherstig said...

I'm with exeter - I discovered so much new music - and helped connect people to new music - that's what I was proud of with Oink. I'd spend time looking through other people's profiles who downloaded stuff I liked to find new artists. Any potential replacement for oink (I'd rather have the original up and running...) needs to keep that ability.

Anonymous said...

You've.. been.. TROLLED,
You've been trolled,
You have probably been told;
"Don't reply to that guy,
He is just getting a rise...

Out of YOU!" Yes it's true,
you respond and that's his que
to start trouble on the double
while he strokes his manly stubble

Seriously though, ignore the trolls, keep up the informative updates on OiNK and the scammers. You're too good to get caught up on the fools and trolls.

Anonymous said...

we're with you man.
no worries.

Anonymous said...

Why would it be wrong if you WERE making money? Nothing wrong with making money if you do it honestly. Fine with me if you DO put a markup on the t-shirts, nobody's forced to buy them and anyone else can make their own oink shirts if they want too. I don't get what the problem is. AND I believe you when you say you aren't making money. So ignore those fuckers.

Thanks for the blog.

Anonymous said...

oink.cx.la and its subsidary sites remain a scam, even after moving their “launch” 10 days to November 11th. Check their new screenshot if you have any lingering doubts. Behold the magic of MS paint. ~zcx

Anonymous said...

It is true that waffles got rid of some of the staff, some left of their own will, others were forcibly removed. This was on the front page news of waffles the day before Paine's blog post.

"Show/Hide A Sad Day. posted by shinikaru on Nov-06-07
Now is one of those godawful times where I am forced to bring you wafflers bad news. Beau has resigned. For his own reasons, Beau will no longer be apart of the Waffles Staff.

I need to make it very clear that this is different from the other previous staff removals of Newport and Dead1. They were removed from the staff without their choice. The waffles staff is not disappearing one-by-one; in truth the frequency of this happening is all coincidence.

I'll still be here, people. So will our fantastic staff. Waffles will rise.

- Shin "

Now, if the site can recover from the bad publicity and security/code issues, then it has a chance. Mainly, I worry about it's security.
