We are not affiliated with "oinkybank"

Just a note here -- There is still no official donation fund. I.e. "Oinkybank" is not anything any of the staff, nor oink himself has been involved with.

None of us have been approached by the owners of that site either. Looks like someone's making a killing off our piggy backs.

EDIT: A few people have been asking if we know about the index2.html on oink.cd -- Yes, we did, and pasted it in the #oink channel.

Who knows, they might have good intentions, wouldn't count on it though..

This is one of the former members who started the site. We DO have intentions to donate the money once the need arises.

Don't believe us? Don't donate.

I'm sad to see the community fall. I'll miss it. Thanks for all of your hard work OiNK.

I am also member of the community. This should be my 98 week or so. I cannot connect the chat so I'll keep reading this blog. Thanks for the effort and best of lucks.

"Good intentions" thats awesome but the need for money has not come up yet. While it is a nice gesture please do NOT donate to any site unless oink says his self that he needs money for legal defense.

A website for donating money for a cause that hasn't arisen is stupid.

I wonder why you havent contacted either us or OiNK yet then.

zap, if you could, please email us at oinkybank@gmail.com with evidence you are affiliated with oink and we will give you full control over the paypal.

As of right now, we dont see either a way to verify your identity or your intentions. So we chose not join with you. Feel free to continue your site, we just want to make sure our former users think before they donate to anyone.

Oinkybank: You are welcome to contact us on irc and talk.

would you prefer we shut down the site then?

paine, anyway you can comment on this blog?

Snif, why did you change to nice color theme that fit the logo/banner just nice? :..( Ok, this was important.. :D

"paine, anyway you can comment on this blog?"

Dunno about Paine, but i think one of us has talked to the guys on that Wafflehat thingie, and told them to hold back for a while. Wait things out. Nobody can tell atm what will happen, and OiNK himself hasnt said yet what he wants to do. Give it some weeks.

Paine said...

I changed the colour scheme because people complained about it being hard to read.

Thanks for the blog zap, keeps me updated. First and foremost thank god oink is alright. I was devastated when I heard about the site go down, I actually shed a tear. That community is/was the best. it was the first site I went to in the morning, and last site i went before going to bed. If an official donation becomes avail, I wont hesitate to contribute. oink isnt dead people, it's just on timeout right now =P

Amen.

You guys should stop collecting money. Refund it. It's possible.

Say in the case it is never needed you all will be up to your neck in dirty money.

Yes thank you for keeping us updated. Hopefully oink will rise again in the next few months :)

haha. hey smartypants, they also probably report a falso number for "current funds" to make people feel more secure. why would they write current funds: $0

Anonymous said...

Well, if the do have funds, I think it's very telling to see how people are reacting in this situation. If the RIAA or similar organization were being messed with, would people stand behind them with even their talk? NO. Oink has people DONATING, after a couple days, to whatever they can (or think they can) do to help. I think this is something that should be in the news articles: There are actually people out there that feel a strong sense of community and will put their money where the mouth is to help said community out. If the music industry operated more like oink, we'd all be better off. (Can you imagine a site that lets people download whatever they want for free and donate what they think is reasonable?... Hmm, not sure that would work on a large scale, but I think that's what Radiohead did with their new CD).

May the admins of OiNK be blessed by the holy God, and may they get the power and mindset to put Oinkys butt back upon all other internet-sites...

Thanks for the best side in the world

Amen

I think OiNK is probably hesitant to accept money at this point because there is already so much misinformation spreading in the media about how OiNK was a "pay site" and that he made "hundreds and thousands of pounds." In any case, if/when the need arises, I'll be there.

zaP said...

Oink.cx.la didnt get anything from anywhere. Nobody except the authorities have the seized userdata. Dont believe everything you read on a pink website (except this one ;)

lol i like this excerpt from that oink.ca.lx or whatever:

You tried to keep black people enslaved. You tried to keep women from voting. You have failed then and you fail now by trying to keep people from free mp3s. Because people today realise they pay $15 for a record and the Artist gets only $0,20 the other $14,80 go to the store and to the rich. Like Kings kept 100s of familys around their castle starving and low you hord all MP3s from the people who just want to have a good time and you only dig your own grave because you cannot stop this wave that will crush you. You will soon die. Wake.
